Explore Tandem Biking with Ken Bolt

It all started with the Boy Scouts.  Ken's son, Jeremy, was approaching Eagle Scout and needed a high level badge in either swimming, hiking or biking.  After talking with the Scout leaders, the best idea was for his son to work on the biking badge while riding on a tandem bike.  Ken purchased a bike and off they went as a father and son team!

The requirements included a 10 mile, 20 mile and 50 mile bike, all of which they accomplished together on that tandem bike!

A 501(3) C disability service providing free tandem bicycle rental to anyone with a disability so that they can ride wherever, whenever and with whoever they like.

Not wanting to give up their new activity together, Ken connected with a group called Charlotte's Tandems US.  This US charity based out of Annapolis MD was founded following the model of the highly successful Charlotte’s Tandems in the  UK.  Next thing you know Ken is running the Atlanta location of Charlotte's Tandems (also called Ability Cycling) and showing more people the joy of cycling.

This 501(3) C organization provides free long term rentals to qualified individuals so they can learn and enjoy tandem bicycles.  Donations are appreciated for the loans and you can contribute at the level you are able. Loans are normally for two months to allow disabled to experiment with tandems before seeking to buy one.

If you are interested in giving a tandem bike a try, give Ken a call at (770) 656-2143.

You can talk about your particular situation and he will guide you to the next steps.  Do not worry if you have never ridden a tandem.  Ken will instruct you and make sure you are off to a safe start.
